Philodendron genus is native to the New World tropics. This is a large genus with over 350 species. These can be stemless herbs, climbing shrubs, or small trees. The flowers can be white to greenish-yellow, frequently with darker markings. There are seven species now growing in greater North America, including Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
